Many people experience anxiety when going to the dentist. The dentist is not a place people normally associate with calm and relaxation. But seeing the dentist and fixing up your teeth is essential for your general health. Being prepared before your dental procedure will help you feel more relaxed during your visit. Which then will help you develop a new, more positive outlook for your future visits. Here are some tips to help you relax before your dental procedure.
Prior to your consultation, write down a list of questions and/or concerns. During your visit, write down important directions so you’ll have them for future reference.
Be mindful your your thoughts. When you catch yourself starting to worry about your dental procedure, shift your focus and visualize a positive outcome.
Choose not to think about what you have heard, seen or experienced about dental work in the past. Always focus on what you want, not what you don’t!
Relax, breathe and stay positive. Approach your dental procedure with a positive attitude. You can do it!
It is okay to wear earphones, take breaks, have a friend or family to accompany you.
Dr. Kuo and staff want your visit to be as stress-free as possible. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!
